This British Science Week we are learning all about the vital role they play in taking care of our animals! From water chemistry to feeding there’s always work to do for our busy aquarists.

Aquarist Experiments
Sat 7th, Sun 8th, Sat 14th, Sun 15th March
Get hands on and try out the experiments our Aquarists do as part of their busy job here at Bristol Aquarium.
Join us for 2 daily activities at 11am in our Bay of Rays and 2pm in our Amazing Amazon zone.
Try some water testing with litmus paper, use a refractometer to measure concentration of salt water, discover how we weigh out food for our different animals, learn about animal enrichment activities to keep our creatures happy and find out what goes in to cleaning our many different tanks!

How to become an Aquarist!

Are you looking for a career in marine science? Join our free talk from one of our aquarists who will be delving in to the subject of breaking into the industry, gaining the right experience, and following your passion.
From discovering their love for animal life as a child, volunteering, and work experience to studying at university and beyond, our aquarist will be talking about their career so far and how you can make the right steps to find a career in marine biology!
Free, booking not required – first come first served
20 minute talk, followed by a Q&A

Enormous ferns tower over scuttling feet, rustling through the forest floor.

It’s 200 million years before 2026 and the creatures that rule the earth are looking very different indeed.
Step back in time this Easter holidays as we learn all about prehistoric creatures at Bristol Aquarium! 🦕
Activities every day
Meet a baby dinosaur! Make your way through to our Cretaceous Camp in our Rocky Shores zone. As well as saying hello to a baby dinosaur you will also meet our time travelling palaeontologist, who will show you some fascinating real fossils! 11am – 3.30pm. 🌴
Tour Through Time! Join this special dino-talk and walk through the first section of our botanical house to learn about the dazzling dinosaurs and prehistoric plants you can find lurking in our Rocky shores zone! 4pm – starts at Cretaceous Camp 🦖
Ancient Egg-trail! Have you seen the dinosaurs in our botanical house? One of them has run through the aquarium, laying eggs everywhere they go! Follow the trail to spot them all, piece together all the letters to find out which dinosaur is the culprit! 🥚
Dino-crafts Get creative at our daily craft workshop at 11am in our rear foyer. 🖍️

Iconic Silent Discos Presents: Silent Disco at Bristol Aquarium!
Dive into an unforgettable immersive silent disco at the iconic Bristol Aquarium!
Explore and dance around the aquarium exclusively after hours. Enjoy several DJs around the Aquarium’s multiple rooms, lush jungles and mesmerising underwater tunnel until 9pm, before all partying in the main arena for one of Bristol’s biggest Silent Discos until 11pm.
We’ve got a selection of some of the UK’s best DJs allowing you to choose between them. Expect iconic singalong hits from the 80s, 90s and 00s across three channels as well as a Propaganda channel for all the indie fans. You choose the music you want to dance to while you make waves across our dancefloor.
This exclusive event is promoted by Iconic Silent Discos a collaboration between the UK’s biggest Silent Disco provider, Silent Disco King and Propaganda, one of the country’s most renowned event promoters. Collectively they have over 20 years’ experience of hosting, supplying and promoting some the country’s biggest and best silent discos including at Festivals such as Glastonbury, Boardmasters and Reading and Leeds Festivals as well as in unique and iconic locations around the world.

Bristol Aquarium – Even Calmer Days
Our dedicated Even Calmer days create a more relaxing sensory experience for any customers who may need it. We will be turning off our music, and children’s rides to reduce any unexpected noises. We also increase our lighting in some of our darker areas throughout the day to create a more consistent sensory experience throughout the aquarium.
