Visitors to Bristol Aquarium will be able to come face to face with a pair of real life mermaids over the February Half Term Holidays (Feb 14th – 22nd).
From Monday 16th – Sunday 22 February, the Harbourside attraction’s aquatic residents will be joined by either Mermaid Martha or Tamara Treasure of the Sea; two magical mermaids.
Visitors will be able to enjoy special ‘meet the mermaid’ sessions on land throughout the day and also listen to the mermaids’ fascinating fishy tales of myths and legends.
Bristol Aquarium’s Sarah Moore said: “Having the chance to come face to face with these mythical creatures will be a magical experience.
“It will be fascinating to see whether the other sea creatures interact with them and, for younger visitors in particular, it will be a one-off opportunity to see a legend literally come to life before their eyes.
“As well as revealing the mythical stories of the deep during meet and greet sessions visitors will also be able to have their pictures taken with them,” she added.
The mermaids are part of the aquarium’s ‘Sea Monsters and Legends’ event which is running throughout half term.
The event will feature stories of mythical sea creatures alongside some real ‘monsters of the deep’ including giant octopus, wolf fish and toxic lionfish.
There will also be daily talks and feeds and themed holiday activities including colouring-in stations.
• ‘Sea Monsters and Legends’ will be taking place daily from Saturday, February 14th to Sunday, February 22nd. Mermaids Martha and Tamara will be making an appearance Monday 16th – Sunday 22nd.
