We’ve launched a digital photographic competition to mark National Camera Day which took place on Sunday, June 29th.
We are inviting all our visitors to submit their best digital images taken at the aquarium with prizes on offer for the winners.
The ‘Fin-tastic Fishy Photo’ competition will run until August 10th with all winning entries being displayed at a special exhibition at the aquarium throughout the summer.
Images can be submitted in a total of five different categories in two age groups (Under 13s and Adults). Categories are: ‘Cutest Fish’, ‘Best Composition’, ‘Abstract’, ‘Most Colourful’ and ‘Best Shell-fie’ – photo of yourself with fish or other aquatic inhabitant.
Bristol Aquarium’s Head of Marketing, Sarah Moore, said: “The aquarium is home to more than 4,000 different creatures so there are plenty to choose from; rays, sharks, piranhas, eels, lobster, seahorses – the choice of subject is entirely up to you!
“The only rules are the images must be taken at Bristol Aquarium and cannot use flash photography.
“Our own curator Dan de Castro, who is an accomplished underwater cameraman, will be among the judges and we’re hoping to get some truly amazing pictures.
“Taking pictures within an aquarium environment can be quite difficult, but we’re confident there are some great amateur photographers out there who will step up to the challenge,” she added.
There will be prizes up for grabs for the winners of each category with an overall winner and ultimate prize of an annual membership.
Digital photo entries, with a maximum individual size of four megabytes, can be entered via email to: [email protected].
Please state which category the photo is being entered into and include your name, age and contact details. Please note flash photography is NOT allowed. The competition is not open to professional photographers.
