Spectacular summer orchids bring the magic of the rainforest to the Aquarium. This summer there are some amazing new orchids flowering in the Bristol Aquarium orchid displays including unusual species from Brazil, Costa Rica and Borneo.

Bristol Aquarium has successfully bred over 20 endangered Phantasmal poison frogs (Epipedobates tricolor). This is an important conservation breeding as their numbers are in decline in the wild. They grow around 2.5cm and are red/ brown in colour with yellow stripes.

Following 103 days of closure, on Saturday 4th July Bristol Aquarium opened its doors to welcome visitors once again and is pleased to report its re-opening went swimmingly!

The zoological team at Bristol Aquarium have identified that the collection’s turbot is a never-before catalogued species. During the current temporary closure at Bristol Aquarium, the zoological team have been spending even more time with the animals than usual and have used their extra time swotting up on their classification and animal ID skills.
