(Potamotrygon falkneri) Sometimes known as an otorongo ray or a jaguar ray, this colourful and spotty species of stingray dwells on the river bed in the Amazon. Like all freshwater stingrays it possesses a venomous sting in it’s tail, which it uses to strike it’s predators. In the wild it is known to wary fishermen who will often step on it by mistake!

Appearance

These rays have beautiful spotty patterns across the top of their bodies, similar to that of a jaguar.
