We welcome schools, youth groups and clubs to Bristol Aquarium. With over 40 naturally-themed displays and thousands of aquatic creatures across geographical zones, Bristol Aquarium offers a fun and inspirational day out for all ages and abilities.


Guided Tours

Enjoy a self-guided tour of Bristol Aquarium or for a small additional charge your class can be taken on an undersea adventure with your very own tour guide!

With expert knowledge and help spotting those incredible species, enjoy an immersive experience learning about fascinating creatures from under the sea!

  • Approximately 1 hour 15minutes of educational fun
  • Tailored tour with an emphasis on the topic that you are studying
  • An interactive workshop during your tour can include:
    • The Coral Reef – Hold bleached coral and understand the important role they play undersea
    • Rockpools – Discover creatures from our coastlines in our very own rockpool
    • Deep Defence – Talk about defence mechanisms and play our ‘Deep Deep Down’ game and have fun stretching out a giant replica squid arm!
    • Sharks – Touch shark teeth and skin and learn all about these masters of the sea
    • Art & Design – Learn how to draw some of the creatures you’ll meet on your visit!

At HE & FE level we have also assisted lecturing with Wildlife & Education Media, Marine Conservation and Animal Management with bespoke behind-the-scenes tours (subject to availability)

With space for lunch and activity sheets available to print and bring too,
Bristol Aquarium promises to be a memorable experience for all.

Prices

Education Child – £7.00 (Off-peak: Aug-Apr) or £7.50 (Peak: May-July) with specified free teacher ratios
Education Concession (Children with additional needs using a specially-reduced 1:1 ratio)  – £11.93
Additional Adults – £13.20
Guided Tour Package  – £25.50 per group of up to 30 children

We are happy to offer free entry for a number of adults per school group based on the following ratios: 1:4 (Nursery) 1:6 (Primary) and 1:10 (Secondary and older).

 ** If your school is in either the Merthyr Tydfil or Rhondda Cynon Taff areas you can apply for a Science Grant from the Edina Trust to help you with the costs of a school trip to us – Please click here for more info **

Free teacher pre-visit & risk assessment

We’re happy to offer free entry for up to two teachers per booking who would like to undertake a pre-visit once you have booked your school or youth group in at Bristol Aquarium. You’ll also receive some risk assessment guidelines with your confirmation to help plan your trip to the aquarium.

Payment for school visits

Please note, payment for school and club visits must be made in full on the day of the visit by cash, credit or debit card (in person or over the telephone) or cheque. We do not invoice schools or clubs for payment at a later date.

Caution! Our floor surfaces change throughout the aquarium and for safety reasons we advise visitors not to wear stiletto heels during a visit.
