February Half Term – Myths and Legends

PLEASE NOTE:

Experience a family fun day out with mythical stories of the sea this February half term as Bristol Aquarium welcomes a mermaid into our sea of species. There are plenty of additional events available to the public, as well as lots to learn and engage in for visitors of all ages.

The event runs from Saturday 19th of February up until Sunday the 27th of February.

What’s On at Bristol Aquarium?

10AM to 3PM – Meet a Mermaid
Meet and take pictures with a Mermaid  to treasure for eternity!

11:00 – Squid Dissection – Squid Lab
Watch our team get their hands dirty by putting a knife to a squid and showcasing its inner biology. Expect ink and smells.

11:30 – Coral Sea’s Talk & Feed
Discover all about the world of tropical coral reefs, one of the planet’s most diverse and colourful habitats. This is your chance to witness a feeding frenzy close up as over 300 fish are fed before your eyes!

12:00 – Match Up Board
An engaging interactive activity located in the rear foyer of the Aquarium.

12:30 – UK Native / Seahorse Talk & Feed
Mon, Wed, Fri – Watch our aquarists as they feed our giant native fish in their open-top shipwreck display.
Tue, Thur, Sat, Sun – Our big belly seahorses, located in our learning lab, are a favourite. We breed them in captivity and learn a little more about them from the team behind the breeding.

1:30 – Bay Of Rays Talk & Feed
In the open top Bay of Rays display enjoy close encounters with these graceful fish and learn all about their environment. Located in the first botanical house

2:30 – Amazon Talk & Feed
Pacus are close relatives of the infamous piranhas and we’ve got some real giants living here at the aquarium. These piranha relatives are actually vegetarians! Located in the second botanic house.

3:00 – Pirates! Show & Tell
A box of artefacts about pirates! A nice opportunity to take a hands on approach to learning.

3:30 – Octopus Talk & Feed
Enjoy a close look at tentacles and suckers as fan favourite Davey Jones gets fed by our Aquarist. Located top of the first main native tank.

1. Draw a Pirate flag!
Don’t be afraid to mix it up and use different colours or animals, flags should be in A4 size. Get some inspiration from real-life historic pirate flags by clicking here.

2. Hand your flag into Bristol Aquarium.
Make sure to include the following details on the back of your flag; your name, your age & an e-mail or phone number.
